the Nebraska State Quilt Guild's annual convention

Quilt History Day

We will once again offer an opportunity for QuiltNebraska attendees to add an optional extra day to their weekend, dedicated to learning more about the history of quilts and the interesting people who made them.

Ruby Short McKim–A Glimpse Beyond and A Personal Treasure

Presented by: Merrily McKim Tuohey – Ruby’s youngest granddaughter

This special presentation will give the audience a peek behind the story that most people know about Ruby Short McKim. It will also feature the story of destiny's hand in a granddaughter's journey, a glimpse into "Grammy's" personal and professional history, followed by a viewing of treasures in the McKim Family Collection. Merrily will share bits and pieces of "Grammy's" childhood, education at the NY School of Fine Arts and more. She will also share a wide variety of ephemera that is just beginning to be revealed to Quilt Historians and Researchers.

This presentation is designed for those who are interested in seeing quilts, patterns and memorabilia as well as quilt researchers and historians.
