Your quilt should be inspired by the Braided Platte River.  Braided rivers are usually wide but shallow.  Because they carry large amount of coarse-grained sediments, when the river’s flow decreases, these sediments get deposited on the river bed leaving behind small temporary islands of sands that cause the river’s channels to split. Braided rivers have a broad variety of colors and textures (water, sand, vegetation, and varied roaming borders).
